MXLogic: Running with the pack only waaay late

May 7th, 2009

You’ve probably all seen the news about McAfee’s web vulnerabilities over the last few days. Just like the ones that Symantec suffered from a few weeks ago and BitDefender and a host of other security companies.

Yeah, plumbers shouldn’t have leaking faucets but security isn’t easy even for the security companies. The reality of today’s technology is that it’s a constant game of cat and mouse against the hackers. No software is perfect, it all needs patching it will all have exploits at some time or another. All this really does is highlight how essential it is to have the perimeter for your network secured.

McAfee responded well, did the right thing and fixed the issues it could fix immediately and took down the pages that needed more time to repair.

It’s a little disingenuous of other security companies to start throwing stones in the same glass house that they live in too.
