Apple Adds Chinese Handwriting. Could this be more proof of a Mac tablet?
There have been rumors flying around for months (if not years) about the “soon the be released” Apple tablet computer. The closest we’ve come so far to actually getting such a device has been the iPhone. Portable, connected and pretty full featured, internet-wise and built on the cult of the Newton.. However at heart, it’s still a phone (albeit a frakkin amazing one! – yes, Fanboi – yawn).
The last few weeks have brought renewed speculation from the Apple faithful that a new device is looming. More tablet than phone and less laptop than netbook. The elusive Apple take on the tablet is again raising its head. This time with “proof” from our good friends at MacRumors of Chinese handwriting recognition built into the upcoming release of OS X, Snow Leopard.
I have many Chinese friends. I love Chinese culture. To think of writing even simplified Chinese on an iPhone is an un-natural act. Surely a touch capable device that works for Chinese characters must be a more substantial piece of hardware… A Mac with a touch screen? Noooo. A tablet running OS X? Maybe….
June 8th approaches my Apple faithful friends. All will revealed (or not) at WWDC. :)
