Microsoft – Sticking it to the little guy again. #Security #Apple #Mac

May 13th, 2009

msft_logoWell Redmond’s panic over Apple’s increase in market share, both in the USA and overseas seems to be spilling over and clouding its judgement on issues that it needs to be seen as being very cooperative on.

Microsoft’s latest elephant in the room is security.  It used to be scalability, now it’s scalability and security.  They can buy as many niche security vendors as they like, but security just isn’t in their DNA.

Witness their latest PR disaster.  Not enough to poke at Apple over the price of hardware that they don’t even sell but now they are going to try to undermine Apple by releasing security updates to the Mac version of their Office suite months behind the availability of the fixes for the  Windows version of the same products.

Apple faithful.  This is yet another call to dump Redmond.  Don’t know if you care about office apps.  If you do, then check out iWork or OpenOffice.  Both are VERY capable contenders to the Office throne and both support interoperability with MSFT’s cash cow.
