Formula1: Hamilton out in Q1: Button on pole #formula1 #F1
A despondent Lewis Hamilton walks back to the pits after slamming his McLaren into the barrier after he lost the back end of the car on the entrance to the Mirabeau corner. Earlier in the day Hamilton had said during an interview that he felt the back of the car was light and he was having a hard time keeping it under control.
This set back for the current word champion effectively crushes any hope he had for defending his title in the 2009 season. With only 9 championship points to Jenson Button’s 41, Monaco will surely only see that gap widen as Hamilton starts from the back of the grid after a gearbox change.
Qualifying proceeded without further incident to see Jenson Button again take pole position for the 4th time this season, potentially setting him up for his 5th win this year.
