Are Apple FINALLY going to make my Star Trek fantasies come true? Any of you who’ve watched the TV show will know exactly what I mean. For years I’ve wanted a PADD like device. Something small enough to carry around easily, with enough functionality to do most of the things that I use a Mac for today but without the wires, synching and other tethers of todays laptops. AT&T tweaks wireless terms of service to forbid video streaming, filesharing, data tethering

Is it me or is it pretty pointless having networks that you’re not allowed to do anything on?  I thought mobile video conferencing was something the carriers were encouraging!  Their “unlimited” plans cap at 5GB/mo anyway.  After that you pay through the nose per byte.  So what is there to lose?

This just reeks of stodgy, old-f-touch old men, making dumb-ass decisions about technology they don’t understand and are probably afraid of.  When did we hand the internet over to these goons?
